DAVENPORT — Students at St. Ambrose University raised $2,075 that was donated to Café on Vine in Davenport on March 17.

Alan Hartley, Cosgrove Hall director at the university, presented the check to Sister Ruthie Westmoreland of Café on Vine. Dan Ebener, associate professor and co-director of the St. Ambrose Master of Organizational Leadership degree program, also was present for the event.

Students raised money through raffles and other activities during the “Big Game” party on Super Bowl Sunday, said Hartley. Many businesses donated items for the raffle. The Campus Activities Board and Student Government Association also contributed to the fundraiser.

Sr. Westmoreland said it was wonderful for the students to help the hungry in the community. “Money is important, but to be here is more important.” She was referring to students of Ebener who were volunteer servers for the day.

The donation will be used for operational support of Café on Vine, which serves people in need of a noontime meal.
