Davenport — The Sisters of Humility invite the public to pray with them at 11:40 a.m. Wednesdays during a special Mass for peace. It will be celebrated in the Magnificat Chapel at the Humility of Mary Center, 820 W. Central Park Ave.

Iowa City — People meet to pray the rosary and receive Communion at 1 p.m. Wednesdays at Melrose Meadows Retire­ment Community. All Catholics are welcome.

Iowa City — Centering Prayer groups meet from 7-8 p.m. Mondays at the Mercy Hospital chapel, and from 9-11:30 a.m. the fourth Saturday of each month at a member’s home. For more information, call Maureen Kelley at (319) 338-8284.

Melrose — The Knights of Columbus of Albia sponsor a 24-hour adoration the first Friday of the month at St. Patrick Church in Melrose. Mass begins at 8 a.m., followed by 24 hours of adoration, and closes with benediction at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday. For more information or to sign up for an hour, call Tony Humeston at (641) 932-7709.

MEETINGS

Bettendorf — St. John Vianney Parish is offering caregiver support meetings on the second Wednesday of the month from 1-2:30 p.m. Janet Rubelmann, a parishioner of St. John Vianney, is the support meeting facilitator. Coralville — Catholic Daughters of the Americas will hold their 49th biennial Iowa State Convention April 29 to May 1 at the Holiday Inn. The theme is “Renewed in the Spirit.” Speakers are Sister Charla Bulko of Dubuque and Larry Sholstrom of Iowa City. The Saturday evening banquet speaker is Tom Jacobs, a recording artist, retreat facilitator and storyteller from the Kansas City area. State Chaplain Father Robert Lathrop, pastor of Church of All Saints in Keokuk, will celebrate the Masses.

RETREATS

Rock Island, Ill. – A Holy Week retreat will take place at the Benet House Retreat Center, 2200 88th Ave. W., from April 21, 4 p.m., to April 24, 1 p.m. Participants will join the monastic community in silence, prayer and the solemn liturgies of the Last Supper, death and resurrection. Spiritual Direction with Sister Catherine Cleary, OSB, is available for an additional fee.

SOCIALS

Davenport — A Theology on Tap session for young adults will take place Thursday, May 12, 7 p.m. at Phil & Larry’s Saloon. Msgr. Marvin Mottet will present “The Story of a Real-Life Exorcist.”

Davenport — St. Anthony Parish will hold a Peter Rabbit’s Garden Tea Saturday, April 30, at 1 p.m. in the parish center. Reservations are $10 per person. For more information, call Bev at (563) 322-1816.         

LeClaire — The Knights of Columbus of Our Lady of the River Parish will host a fish fry following the 6 p.m. Good Friday service. The menu features both fried and baked fish, French fries, baked potatoes, onion rings, grilled cheese sandwiches and cioppino soup. The Altar & Rosary Society is providing desserts. North English — St. Joseph Parish’s Altar & Rosary Society will hold a May tea on Thursday, May 5, at St. Joseph Church. Comedian Judy Richmond will present “The Homespun Country Humor of Cousin Annie.” Peggy Wardenburg will provide music. Enter­tainment begins at 11 a.m., and lunch will be served at noon. Cost is free.
