Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia H. Fritzsche, 92, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2011 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 417 Main St., Davenport. 

Burial will take place in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. in the parish center at church.  Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Mrs. Fritzsche died Friday, April 1, 2011 at Ridgecrest Village, Davenport.

Virginia was born on December 5, 1918 in Davenport, a daughter of Roscoe and Eleanor (Stricker) Hourigan. She was a graduate of Davenport High School and Brown Business College.  Virginia was united in marriage to Robert P. Fritzsche on September 14, 1941 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport.  

Virginia was a member of St. Anthony’s Church, former longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, Ladies of the Elks and Moose Clubs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friendly House, Handicapped Development Center, or St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Virginia is survived by her children, Robert, Jr. (Betsy), Anniston, AL, Thomas, Davenport, William (Sandra), Council Bluffs, IA, Dr. Rebecca (Richard Woods), Ames, IA, Carol (Michael) Dunbar, Cedar Falls, IA, and David (Kimberley), Kildeer, IL; seventeen grandchildren,  five great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and a brother, Roscoe (Janet) Hourigan, Jr., Palm Desert, CA.
