Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Harold F. Freund, 96, a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. 

Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  The family will greet friends Tuesday from 9:15 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at church.  Harold passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Brookwood Retirement Center, Cincinnati, Ohio with his son and grandson at his side.

Harold Francis Freund was born June 17, 1914 in Colona, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Winifred (Knebel) Freund.  He graduated from St. Ambrose in 1936 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy.  Harold was united in marriage to Anne Margaret Wafer on September 2, 1939 at St. Paul the Apostle, Davenport.   She passed away November 6, 2010.

Mr. Freund retired in 1977 after a long career with NCR Corporation as a senior field engineer.  He was a former member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Davenport Elks.  Harold was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing bridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family Parish.   

Harold is survived by his son David Freund of Cincinnati, Ohio and a grandson John Michael Freund.  Additional survivors include his brothers Gerald, Charles (Margaret), Omer (Dorothy), and Thomas (Shirley) Freund and sisters-in-law, Mary Freund and Helen Wafer.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille and brothers Hubert, Victor, Clair, Louis, John, and Leonard.  May they rest in peace.
