MEETINGS

Clinton — A new support group, sponsored by Mercy Hospice, is being offered to provide information and support to individuals who are coping with the loss of a loved one. “Walking through Grief” will meet from 3:30-5 p.m. May 10, 17, 24 and 31 at Mercy Medical Center — South Campus, boardroom. Rock Island, Ill. — “Mary Day of Prayer: Grace and Gratitude” will take place Thursday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Benet House Retreat Center, 2200 88th Ave. W. Participants will travel Mary’s journey as mother and disciple and ponder the characteristics that helped her to live her life fully. Presenter is Sister Margaret Murphy, OSB. Fee is $30, which includes lunch.

Clinton — After Masses May 7-8 at Prince of Peace Church, the Pro-Life Committee and the Knights of Columbus will give out baby bottles. Parishioners may fill the bottles with loose change to bring back for a collection on Father’s Day, June 19. All proceeds will be donated to The Pregnancy Center in Clinton.

Davenport — A Theology on Tap session for young adults will take place Thursday, May 12, 7 p.m. at Phil & Larry’s Saloon. Msgr. Marvin Mottet will present “The Story of a Real-Life Exorcist.”

Davenport – A 5K walk/run to benefit people in Haiti will be held May 14 at Our Lady of Victory Parish. The 5K begins at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory’s parking lot. The course covers the OLV neighborhood and parish grounds before ending at the parish. The race is separated into men’s and women’s categories with various age divisions. Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each category. For more information, contact Leigh Boorn at davolvym@diodav.org. Iowa City – St. Wenceslaus Parish will hold its spring plant sale at 630 E. Davenport St. Saturday, May 7, from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Many annuals, perennials and vegetables will be for sale.

Washington — A Theology on Tap event for young adults will take place Wednesday, May 11, at Dodici’s Shop. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m., and the presentation begins at 7:15 p.m. Father Bill Kneemiller will present “A New Twist on Yoga and Other New Age Movements.”

WORKSHOPS

Coralville – A Cool Congregations workshop will take place May 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Thomas More Church. Participants will learn how to care for creation by saving energy and money in their homes and worship spaces. A tour of St. Thomas More’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) features begins at noon. Cost is $25 per person or $50 per congregational team of two or more people.
