Gregg Hathaway, 55, a resident of Davenport, died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center West Central Park, Davenport, following a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4105 N. Division Street, Davenport.  Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Halligan – McCabe – DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport.  There will be a prayer service Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. that all are encouraged to attend.

Alan Gregg Hathaway was born April 20, 1956, in Davenport, the eldest son of Dr. Alan D. and Margaret G. “Peg” (Fuller) Hathaway.  He graduated from Assumption High School, class of 1974, and attended the former St. Ambrose College, graduating with a degree in Accounting.

Gregg was united in marriage to Kathleen B. Karwath, on October 9, 2004, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport.

He had been an accountant, maintaining a private practice, A. Gregg Hathaway Accountant and Tax Consultant.       

He was currently a parish member at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.

Gregg was an avid sports fan.  He was a dedicated fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, and he also enjoyed baseball, his professional team of choice was the St. Louis Cardinals.  Some of the fondest memories that Gregg held in his heart were the family trips to the cottage at Lake Okoboji.  He and Kathy were blessed with the fact that they just returned from a visit to the lake, a memory Kathy will cherish. 

Memorials can be made to Fr. Conroy’s Vineyard, c/o Sr. Ludmilla Benda, or to a favorite charity of choice.

Those left to honor his memory include, his wife, Kathy, a step-daughter, Melinda R. “Mindy” Karwath, Davenport; his parents, Dr. Alan and Peg Hathaway, Davenport; siblings and spouses, Jeff and Margaret Hathaway, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Chuck and Nancy Hathaway, Naperville, Illinois, Ted and Carol Hathaway, Bettendorf, Anne and Terry McAtee, Davenport, and Dr. Tony and JoEllen Hathaway, Davenport; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
