Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for John Michael “Mike” Barnes, 66, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport.
Burial will take place at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. to begin the visitation. There will be additional visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Mike died Monday, June 20, 2011 at his residence following a 10 month battle with cancer.
John Michael Barnes was born on November 4, 1944 in Peoria, Illinois, a son of John T. and Gertrude Barnes. Mike served our country in the Air Force. He earned his Bachelors degree from Mankato State University. Mike was united in marriage to Jo Ann 37 years ago in St. Paul, MN.
Mike was a manufacturing rep for Eutectic Corporation for 37 years.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann, Davenport, sons, Rev. Patrick Barnes, St. Anthony, MN and Kevin Barnes, Davenport; a brother, Thomas Barnes, Galesburg.
