Rediscover your Catholic heritage

We live in a time when our Catholic faith is being tested. Mass attendance had dropped dramatically, and many continue to leave the Church. We feel we are being called to understand anew the foundations of our faith through the sacraments of initiation and the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

With this in mind, the Blessed Trinity Prayer Group of the Davenport Deanery is offering a series of three Saturday seminars hosted by St. Ann Parish in Long Grove. The series is titled, “Rediscover Your Catholic Heritage.”

• Day I, scheduled for July 30, includes a renewal of our baptismal promises and deals with some contemporary attacks against the Church and the faith. It will end with a reconciliation service.

• Day II on Aug. 13, will center on our confirmation and God’s gift of the Holy Spirit, including the three stages of our baptismal spirituality.

• Day III, Aug. 27, will center on the Eucharist. Msgr. Robert Gruss originally planned to give a teaching on the Mass, but he will be leaving the Davenport Dsiocese to become bishop of the Diocese of Rapid City, S.D.

We are making arrangements for a new speaker who will give this talk on the Mass, to be followed by discussion. We will consider ways we might grow spiritually and become more like Christ.

Advance registration is required. Registration forms are available by contacting me at (563) 355-0798 or BMFVogel@qconline.com.

Registration deadline is Saturday, July 23. The cost of the program is $32 and includes lunch each day and books.
