DAVENPORT — The 2011 Father Ken Martin Golf Outing and Dinner will take place Aug. 31 at Emeis Golf Course.

This marks the 23rd anniversary for the event that raises funds for tuition assistance for families facing crisis or emergency situations and who have children attending a K-12 Catholic school in Scott County. 

Registration begins at noon, and the shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. The dinner, available to golfers and non-golfers, will follow at 5:45 p.m. the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1111 W. 35th St. Rain date is Sept. 7.

Cost is $125 per golfer for golf and dinner. Cost for dinner only is $35. Sponsorships also are available.

To register, send your name, foursome members, phone number and email address to Father Ken Martin Golf Outing, c/o Jim and Diane Tiedje, 2720 Emerald Court, Davenport, IA 52804. Include a check payable to Assumption Foundation for K-12 Catholic Schools.

Fr. Martin served as a priest in the Diocese of Davenport until he died in 1986. He left a $1,000 bequest for his “buddies” to have a golf outing. That group created the fundraising event the following year in his memory, and, to date, over $250,000 has been raised to benefit Catholic schools.
