Sister Margaret Maureen Carroll, CHM, 90, died July 28 at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in Johnston.

Margaret Maureen Carroll was born July 7, 1921, in Chicago and entered the Congregation of the Humility of Mary on Sept. 8, 1948, professing vows on July 28, 1951.

She received a BS from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, an MA from the University of Iowa, and a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. Sr. Carroll taught at Marycrest College in Davenport from 1951-69 and from 1973-78, serving there as chair of the Department of Physical Education. In 1979 she entered the Clinical Pastoral Education program at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Upon completion of her studies in 1980, she began a ministry of pastoral care at Mercy (Genesis) Hospital in Davenport, continuing until her retirement in 1999.  She moved to Humility of Mary Center in 2008 and to Bishop Drumm in 2011 where she resided until her death.

Her funeral was held Aug. 2 at Magnificat Chapel in Davenport. Burial of cremains will be in Hillside, Ill., at a later date.
