Davenport — Bishop Robert Gruss will celebrate Mass for the people of the Diocese of Davenport on Sept. 4 at 3 p.m. in Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Davenport — A healing Mass will be celebrated at Eagles’ Wings, 5816 Telegraph Road, Aug. 16 at 1 p.m.

Davenport — A healing Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral Aug. 19. Confession begins at 6 p.m.; praise music begins at 6:40 p.m., and Mass will be at 7:15 p.m.

Hills — A healing Mass with Msgr. Marvin Mottet, Father Troy Richmond and Father William Kneemiller will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 12, at St. Joseph Church. Confession starts at 6:30 p.m., and Mass begins at 7 p.m. All are welcome.

Iowa City — Centering Prayer groups meet from 7-8 p.m. Mondays at the Mercy Hospital chapel, and from 9-11:30 a.m. the fourth Saturday of each month at a member’s home. For more information, call Maureen Kelley at (319) 338-8284.

MEETINGS

Iowa City — The Diocese of Davenport Advocacy Team will meet Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 5:30-7 p.m. at St. Patrick Church. The team aims to address the root causes of poverty and injustice by educating and engaging people in the diocese to advocate for sustainable change, locally and globally. Davenport — A celebration of the one-year anniversary of the Oaks of Mamre Catholic Worker House will take place Saturday, Aug. 27, from 2-5 p.m. in Fejervary Park, 1800 W. 12th St. All are welcome; bring a dish to share. Donations to replace windows and cover taxes can be sent to Oaks Catholic Worker, 1713 W. 9th St., Davenport, IA  52804.

Davenport — A $1 sale per item on all school uniforms is ongoing at Cinderella Cellar, 230 W. 35 St. Dorm room items are available in the “college corner.” All proceeds benefit the Kahl Home for the Aged and Infirm in Davenport. Store hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call (563) 323-1923.

Goose Lake — Assumption & St. Patrick Parish in Charlotte is hosting a beef and pork dinner with all the trimmings, including a beverage and dessert, on Sunday, Aug. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The event will be held at the Millennium Ballroom in Goose Lake.  Carryouts are available.  Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 4 to 12 and free for children 3 and younger.  The event will include a gift basket silent auction, children’s games, bingo, a country store and local entertainment.

Grinnell — St. Mary Parish will hold a dads’ Belgian waffle breakfast Saturday, Aug. 27, from 7:30-10:30 a.m. in the religious education center. Tickets are $7 in advance from the parish office or $8 at the door. Children 5 and younger eat free. Takeouts are available.

WORKSHOPS

Iowa City — The Diocese of Davenport will present “Great Expec­tations: Coach­ing Parents to Form Their Own Children” Aug. 26 at St. Patrick Church. Faith formation leaders in parishes and schools will learn how to engage parents in forming children’s faith. Presenter will be Leisa Anslinger.  The workshop will begin with registration at 10 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. Registration deadline is Aug 19. Cost is $20. Wheatland — “Creating Ritual in Our Lives” will take place Friday, Aug. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat. Participants will explore what constitutes ritual and its role and meaning in their lives. Attendees will identify the characteristics of ritual and develop and shape original experiences of ritual to meet specific needs. Fee is $15, which includes lunch.
