Basket sales support area parishes

Father Gary Beckman, pastor of St. John Parish in Houghton and St. James Parish in St. Paul, poses with Jean Humphrey’s first-grade students. The students will auction off their “Halloween Basket” at the God’s Acre Sale in St. Paul on Oct. 2. Also to be auctioned off that day is the “Hawkeye Basket” assembled by the fourth-grade class. Future events include St. Mary’s Fall Festival in West Point Oct. 8-9 and God’s Portion Day in Fort Madison Oct. 22-23.

In this season of parish festivals, the HTC Elementary students have been busy creating themed baskets that will be auctioned off at the upcoming sales.

To show support for the parishes that support Holy Trinity Catholic Schools, each grade selects a theme and then personalizes items to include in the basket.  Parents are asked to send items to include or to send a monetary donation.

At the Harvest Festival in Houghton on Sunday, the third-graders sold their “Spa Day” basket and the fifth grade offered a “Game Night” basket.
