Choir members from Holy Trinity Catholic Junior/Senior High School in Fort Madison and Notre Dame Junior/Senior High School in Burlington offer a concert at the Basilica di Santa Maria in Trastevere in Italy in 2008.

After visiting Italy in spring 2008, the Holy Trinity Catholic Chorus is once again planning a trip to Rome from March 23-30, 2012.

After arriving in Rome, chorus members will receive a papal blessing and sing during Mass at the Vatican on March 25. They will present a concert in Rome, visit Pompeii and the Sorrento area, and offer a concert in Sorrento in the following days. The group will make half-day guided tours of Imperial Rome, Pompeii, Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.

Sophomore Zach Taylor is excited to be making his first trip to Rome. “My sister got to go in 2008 and said it was a great experience,” he said. “Now I’m really excited for my chance to go and see everything she talked about.”

Planning for this trip began over a year ago with fundraising getting into full swing last spring. The approximate cost for each student is $2,400.
