IOWA CITY – A Mass for vocations and mini-conference will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church from 6:30-9 p.m. on Sept. 27.  The celebrant of the Mass will be Father Rudolph Juárez, and concelebrants will be Father Michael Phillips and Father Thomas Hennen, vocations director of the Davenport Diocese.

The Mass will be followed by refreshments and a short mini-conference with presentations by Fr. Hennen and Cy Laurent, founder and executive director of the Labouré Society.  The topic of the mini-conference will be “Student Debt Crisis Imperils Vocations.”

In most cases, aspirants to the priesthood or religious life cannot enter formation if they have substantial student debt. The Labouré Society promotes vocations by helping aspirants resolve their student debt problems.
