Science lesson turns sweet

Barb See’s fourth-graders began science class this year with an investigation using Gobstoppers jawbreaker candy.

Each group of students was given a different colored candy, which children set in water. Then they watched for the layers of colors in the candy to change and recorded the observations.

This led to discussion of what would happen if other liquids or candies were used. Many students had tried similar investigations on their own.
