St. Joseph Catholic School participated in the Scholastic Summer Challenge: “Read for the World Record.” The summer-long campaign was designed to motivate all children to read more so they maintain and improve their academic skills.
Students in kindergarten through fifth grade kept track of the minutes they read from May 1 to Aug. 31. Students read a total of 31,942 minutes and ranked 290th in the world. The top reader, Easton Necker, logged 4,499 minutes.
The library paired the challenge with a BOGO book fair. Every St. Joe’s student received $5 to spend on a book at the fair. The library looks forward to more reading promotions throughout this school year.
