Classes build creativity

The KCS art room has been a busy place since school started!

“Color My World” is the theme of students’ studies of the element of color in design. They are learning about how colors mix and can be changed. Students are experimenting with color intensity and learning about the properties of color and paint. This focus includes a wide variety of age-appropriate color activities and art projects. The goal for grades K-5 is to continue to bring creativity and faith into community service projects throughout the 2011-12 school year.

The KCS Thinker’s Class is off to a great start! Students are challenging their brains to think in new and different ways. Grades K-1 have been studying the science of bubbles. Grade 2 has been doing a study of Egyptian writing, and students are writing their own books in hieroglyphics. Grade 3 students have been looking closely at the world through microscopes and drawing what they see. Grade 4 created eight-sided 3-D octahedrons that pop! Grade 5 is working in teams to construct small paper automatons — toys that move by using gears and levers.

The joy of learning in a Christian environment is evident in the smiles of children!
