Nicholas Lee Cervantes of Boy Scout Troop 199, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Bettendorf, has earned his Eagle Scout rank. He passed his Eagle Board of Review on Sept. 6 and had his Eagle Court of Honor on Nov. 26.

Nicholas is the son of Ed and Connie Cervantes in Bettendorf.

Nicholas joined Cub Scout Pack 199 at Our Lady of Lourdes in the fall of 1999.  He earned the Parvuli Dei Medal and was awarded the Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouts. In 2003 he bridged over to Boy Scouts. He earned 28 merit badges and was awarded the Ad Altaire Dei Medal.

For his Eagle project he planned and built a meditation garden dedicated to the unborn at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The garden consists of a privacy wall skinned in granite, a flag stone walk, benches, plants and a statue of Mary.
