Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Jane Schroeder, 89, a resident of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport.

Burial will take place in Holy Family Cemetery, Davenport.  Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport with a prayer service to begin the visitation at 4:00 p.m.  There will be additional visitation Tuesday at the church from 10:00 until 10:30 a.m. Mrs. Schroeder died Friday, January 6, 2012 at Crest Health Center, Davenport.

Mary Jane Collins was born on January 11, 1922, a daughter of William and Vera (Hass) Collins. She was united in marriage to Everett L. Schroeder on December 18, 1943 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Davenport.  He preceded her in death on July 16, 2002.  They shared 59 years of marriage together.

Mary Jane served as secretary to the science department at St. Ambrose College for close to 20 years.  She was a charter member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Chuch.  Mary Jane cherished the time she spent with her family, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, Everett after they retired, loved to play cards, and was a diehard Cubs fan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church or the Handicapped Development Center.

Mrs. Schroeder is survived by her children and their spouses, Jill and John Guenther, Davenport, Jack and Julie Schroeder, New Port Richey, FL., and Bill Schroeder and Debi Graham-Schroeder, Davenport; grandchildren, Gina (Mrs. Peter) Loken, Matthew De Wulf, Laurie (Mrs. John) Twitchell, Ashley Graham-Schroeder, Angel (Mrs. Michael) Skram, Wendy (Mrs. John) Cooke, and Sandra Thompson; step-grandchildren, Todd Guenther and Vicki Guenther; and great-grandchildren, Lauren and Madeline Loken, Gabriele, Aiden, and Addison Twitchell, Taylor and Payton Thompson, Juliette Cooke, and Ryan and Taylor Guenther; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Evans, East Moline; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; a son, Mark on August 11, 1979; her parents, and sisters, Shirley Stroben and Marjorie Furchbrich.  May they rest in peace.
