Two priest jubilees

Two more priests of the Davenport Diocese have or will celebrate jubilees this year.

Fr. Page

Father Stephen Page, 57, pastor of St. Mary Parish in Fairfield, will celebrate 25 years as a priest June 19.
Born in Davenport, he grew up in Bettendorf and completed his theology studies at St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. On June 19, 1987, he was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Gerald O’Keefe at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport.
Fr. Page served at St. Paul the Apostle in Davenport from 1987-88, Our Lady of Lourdes in Bettendorf from 1988-91, St. Bridget in Victor from 1991-96, St. Patrick in Marengo from 1995-96 and St. Mary in Fairfield since 1996.
Mass will be celebrated June 16 at 5:30 p.m. and June 17 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s. A potluck will follow Saturday Mass and a mid-morning brunch will follow Sunday Mass, both in the parish hall.

Fr. Hoenig

Father Gerald Hoenig, 85, celebrated 60 years as a priest in March.
Born in Fort Madison, he attended schools in West Point. He completed theology studies at Loras Academy in Dubuque and St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. On March 29, 1952, he was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Ralph Hayes at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Fr. Hoenig served at St. Patrick in Burlington from 1952-65, St. Patrick in Ottumwa from 1965-68, Sacred Heart Hospital in Fort Madison from 1968-69, Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison from 1968-2001, St. Mary in Augusta from 1985-88 and St. Joseph in Montrose from 1988-2001. Fr. Hoenig retired in 2001. A Mass and reception were held in March.
