Davenport — People are invited to the “Life in the Spirit” seminar at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. from July 5 to Aug. 23. An explanation and sign-up session with Msgr. Marvin Mottet is Thursday, June 21, from 7–8 p.m. in the church’s gathering space. This seminar will be presented by members of the Blessed Trinity Prayer Group consisting of parishioners from Bet­ten­dorf and Davenport parishes. Fee is $10. Babysitting will be provided. LITURGY/PRAYER
Bettendorf – A centering prayer support group meets at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. After centering prayer, participants will discuss the book “Taste of Silence.” For more information call Judy at (563) 355-0611.
Davenport —  Sacred Heart Cathedral is celebrating Saturday night Mass at 5 p.m. through Sept. 1. The sacrament of reconciliation will be offered an hour before, at 4 p.m.  During the fall and winter months, Saturday night Mass will be held at 4 p.m.
Davenport — Several events are slated at Eagles’ Wings, 5816 Telegraph Road. On June 29, Marcia will share slides of her pilgrimage to the International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin and journey to shrines of Ireland. On Tuesday, July 10, at 1 p.m., Father Tim Regan will celebrate a healing Mass. Reconciliation will be at 12:45 p.m. On Friday, July 13 and 27, at 7 p.m. are SWAP prayer meetings. Iowa City — People meet to pray the rosary and receive Communion at 1 p.m. Wednesdays at Melrose Meadows Retirement Community. All Catholics are welcome.
Melrose — The Knights of Columbus of Albia sponsor a 24-hour adoration the first Friday of the month at St. Patrick Church in Melrose. Moline, Ill. – The Secular Discalced Carmelite Community of St. Joseph and the Prophet Elijah invites people to join in the study of prayer in the tradition of St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. RETREATS
Rock Island, Ill. – A silent, directed retreat, “Listen With the Ear of Your Heart,” will take place at the Benet House Retreat Center at St. Mary Monastery, 2200 88th Ave. W., from Sunday, July 22, 4 p.m. to Wednesday, July 25, 5 p.m. Register and pay in full by June 22 to save $15.  Registrations with payments received after June 22 will pay $250.  To sign up, contact Sister Jackie Walsh at (309) 283-2108 or retreats@smmsisters.org.
Wheatland — Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat will offer “Mid-Summer in the Quiet” on Tuesday, July 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Reflect on the theme of humility. The day is participants’ to shape after a brief introduction. Fee is $20, including lunch. Also, private or directed retreats are available Sunday through Friday beginning July 22 at 7 p.m. to Friday at noon. There will be shared prayer and meals and an optional conversation with a guide. Davenport – The 2012 Assumption Booster Club Golf Outing will take place Friday, Aug. 3, at Emeis Golf Course with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost of $85 per golfer includes four-person scramble, 18 holes with cart, beverage tickets, skins game, hole-in-one prizes, hole pin events and a steak dinner at Rookies sports bar. Davenport – The Assumption High School class of 1967 will hold a reunion Aug. 3-4. An informal gathering will take place Friday, Aug. 3, at Circle Tap, 1345 W. Locust St., on the patio at 6 p.m. No reservations re­quired. On Saturday, Aug. 4, there will be a dinner, social gathering and DJ at the Knights of Columbus Club House, 1111 W. 35th St. Cocktails are at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Dress is comfortable. Sugar Creek – Ss. Mary & Joseph Parish invites people to a lawn social Sunday, July 8. A beef and pork dinner will be served from 3-7:30 p.m. Cost is $7 in advance or $7.50 at the door for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12, and free for children 5 and younger. Carry-outs will be available. Kim and Rose Strait will provide violin music before the Corn Fed Girls perform. Welton – St. Anne’s will hold a parish dinner Sunday, June 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Buzzy’s. Menu includes beef, grilled chicken, salad bar and homemade desserts. There will be a raffle. Cost is $9 for adults, $4.50 for children ages 5-12 and free for children younger than 5.
