DAVENPORT – Msgr. James Parizek will celebrate his 40th anniversary as a priest July 15.
A native of Iowa City, he attended schools there. He graduated from St. Ambrose College in Davenport and completed his theological studies and earned a master’s in theology at the American College of the University of Louvain in Belgium.
On July 15, 1972, he was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Gerald O’Keefe at St. Wenceslaus Parish in Iowa City.
Then-Father Parizek served as an associate pastor at St. Paul the Apostle in Davenport from 1972-76. In 1976 he was appointed as assistant chancellor for the diocese and auditor for the tribunal.  In 1978 he became vice officialis and pro synodal judge. He completed his licentiate of Canon Law in 1978 from The Catholic University in Washington, D.C. In 1981 Fr. Parizek was appointed vice chancellor, officialis, judicial vicar and director of the tribunal where he served until 2001. In 1989 he received the title monsignor. From 2001-02 he served as parochial vicar at Holy Family Parish in Davenport and has been pastor of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Davenport since 2002.

  1. congrats !!! you made it to your 40th ?? already! I always think highly of you. I do know joel and his wife and their kids go to your church. his co twin jeff still live in davenport as well. Kenyon works and live in iowa city. Steve lives up north in dubuque as hes doing good. ,Youre always in my thoughts and lots of memories when you had done for us deaf and the mass. blessed you..diane gordon
