Funeral Services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Madeleine M. Bunge, 97, a resident of Bettendorf, will be Monday, August 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Davenport.  Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, where her family invites you to join them to pray the rosary at 2:00 p.m. to begin the visitation. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery, Davenport.  Madeleine passed away, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at St. Mary Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Davenport.

Madeleine Marie Schmiers was born on July 31, 1914 in West Burlington, Iowa a daughter of Christian and Anna (Wagner) Schmiers.  She was united in marriage to Lester L. Bunge in Davenport August 5, 1933. Together they celebrated over 62 years of marriage. He preceded her in death July 23, 1996. In earlier years Madeleine had enjoyed working at the former Rainbow Flower Shop.  She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and had devoted many years of service to both school and church functions and civic projects.

Memorials may be made to either St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Genesis Hospice.

Survivors include her children and their spouses; a daughter, Cynthia and Marvin Stolley, Davenport; her sons, Victor Bunge, Fulton, IL, Max and Janice Bunge, and Craig and Gail Bunge all of Davenport; her sister, Bernadine Nicola, Davenport; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-great grandson

She was preceded in death by her husband Lester, a daughter-in-law Doris Bunge, two sisters, Marie Hebbeln and Ann Jeanette Scott, two brothers, Anthony Doner and James Doner,  a granddaughter, Christine and a great-granddaughter.  May they rest in peace.
