LITURGY/PRAYER

Davenport —  A healing Mass will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 19, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Confessions start at 6 p.m., praise music at 6:30 p.m., and Mass at 7:15 p.m. All are welcome.
Davenport – A Soak­ing With A Purpose prayer meeting will take place Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at Eagles’ Wings.
Fort Madison – A rosary crusade will take place Oct. 13 at noon outside of McAleer Hall, 1111 Ave. E. Father David Wilkening will lead prayer for repentance and conversion in the U.S.
Muscatine – A public square rosary rally will take place Oct. 13 at 11:45 a.m. on the steps of St. Mathias Church, 215 W. Eighth St. There will be song, the Angelus, rosary and Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Moline, Ill. – The Secular Discalced Carmelite Community of St. Joseph and the Prophet Elijah invites people to join in the study of prayer in the tradition of St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. Rock Island, Ill. – Catholics will pray the rosary Oct. 13 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Pius X Church in honor of Our Lady of Fatima for the presidential election.
MEETINGS
Bettendorf – St. John Vianney Parish will offer an “Under­standing Grief Edu­cational Program” in October and November. Iowa City — The Diocese of Davenport’s Justice and Peace Advocacy Team will meet Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of St. Patrick Church. All are welcome. For more information, call the diocesan social action office at (563) 324-1911.
RETREATS
Davenport – St. Alphonsus Catholic Church will have a day of retreat with Father Bob Miller on Oct. 15 beginning at 9 a.m. and ending with Mass at 3 p.m. Entitled “Power of the Trinity in Faith in Our Life,” the retreat will be held in the church and St. Clement’s Hall. Wheatland — Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat will offer the following events. On Oct. 16 is “Harvest Come to the Quiet,” 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The day is yours to shape after a brief introduction to abundance. Fee: $20. SOCIALS
Brooklyn – St. Patrick Parish will hold a bazaar and supper on Oct. 14. Meal will be served from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children 12 and younger, and $1 for preschoolers age 4 and younger. Carryouts will be available. Raffle drawing will take place at 6 p.m. There also will be a baked goods booth, country store, farmers’ market and grab bags.
Burlington —  Catholic Adult Fellowship Evenings (CAFÉ) will take place Wednesdays from 6:45 to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria of Notre Dame High School. All adult Catholics in Des Moines County are welcome. Child care is provided. The CAFÉ is not open Oct. 17 and 31.
Davenport – A rally for religious freedom will take place Oct. 20 from noon to 1 p.m. at the federal courthouse, 131 E. Fourth St. For more information, call Jeanne Wonio at (563) 355-4188.
Davenport – Humility of Mary Housing, Inc. will hold a Fresh Start Benefit Sale Oct. 12 from 5-8 p.m. and Oct. 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3805 Mississippi Ave. There will be housewares, bedding, toys, jewelry, gift items, furniture, books, games and clothing. Donations for this sale can be dropped off Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Davenport — The All Saints Catholic School Home and School Association has begun its annual wreath and greenery sale. All Saints students will be taking presale orders from Oct. 11-25 with delivery expected in November. Price for the traditional 24-inch door wreath is $13, and the 36-inch door wreath is $20. Fort Madison —  “Sparking the Spirit” will take place at Holy Family Parish’s Mc­Aleer Hall on Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m.  Jacquelyne Witter will speak on the new evangelization and the Year of Faith. A light meal will be served at 5:45 p.m., with the program running from 6:30–8:30 p.m.  There is no charge for the event, but make reservations for the meal and evening at mtpleasantstaldre@diodav.org.
Iowa City — The Diocese of Davenport’s first young adult conference will take place at St. Patrick Church in Iowa City Oct. 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Cost is $15. To register by Oct. 11, visit www.davenportyouth.org/daveportya.org.
Iowa City – The Knights of Columbus at St. Wenceslaus Parish will host a recognition dinner Oct. 13 at the parish hall to congratulate the first recipient of a medical consultant grant and to learn more about Natural Family Planning. Speakers include Dr. Stephen Pallone and his wife, Melinda. Dr. Monica Minjeur of Cedar Rapids, the first grant recipient, also will speak. Richmond – Holy Trinity Parish’s fall pork loin and beef dinner will take place Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults and $3 for children ages 5-10. The day includes a country store, raffle and silent auction.
Riverside – The St. Mary’s Faith Formation pancake breakfast will be held Oct. 14 in the St. Mary’s Church basement from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 5-10 and free for children younger than 5. There will be a craft and bake sale. Proceeds go to St. Mary’s religious education.
West Point — St. Mary Parish’s fall festival will be Oct. 13-14. On Saturday pulled pork sandwiches will be served from 5-8 p.m. Live auction is from 7 p.m. to midnight. Sunday includes a live auction from 9:30 a.m. until everything is sold. Bone-in ham meal will be served 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Luncheon is throughout the day. Other activities include three $500 cash raffles, 50/50 cash raffles, country market, baked goods, spirit shop and kids games.
