Iowa City – Jerzy Rubach, Ph.D., will speak on “The Catholic Church in Poland: A Personal Reflection” Nov. 8 from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Newman Catholic Student Center. He will address his experience of growing up Catholic in Poland and witnessing Pope John Paul II’s historic visit to Poland that led to the liberation of his country.
Rock Island, Ill. – St. Ambrose University Assistant Professor of Theology Micah Kiel will speak on “The Stones of Corinth” Oct. 28 from 1:30-4 p.m. at Benet House Retreat Center. Davenport – At Eagles’ Wings, people will pray for the United States and the upcoming elections Oct. 31 at 6:30 p.m. A Soaking With A Purpose prayer meeting will take place there at 7 p.m. Nov. 9. A healing Mass will be celebrated there Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. Also, Bishop Martin Amos will bless the ministry during an open house celebration of Eagles’ Wings 20th birthday Nov. 18 between 3 and 5 p.m.
MEETINGS
Davenport – Quad Cities Interfaith’s 2012 public meeting will take place Oct. 25 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish Center. Local congregations will bring up issues to be addressed, re-kindle their commitment to building strong congregations and develop strategies to work together in 2013.

RETREATS
Davenport – Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church invites people to a Marriage Encounter Retreat Weekend Nov. 30 and Dec. 1-2. The retreat is designed for spouses to give the gift of love to each other, renew their marriage relationship, improve communication and enhance their mutual commitment. Camanche – Church of the Visitation will hold its annual holiday bazaar Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day will include a quilt raffle, bake sale, silent auction, holiday items and local arts and crafts. The public is welcome and there is no admission charge.
Davenport — Assumption High School’s senior class will hold a spaghetti supper Nov. 4 from 4-7 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens.

Nichols – An annual auction and luncheon will take place at St. Mary’s parish hall Nov. 4. Silent auction is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Regular auction follows.
Richmond – Holy Trinity Parish’s fall pork loin and beef dinner will take place Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults and $3 for children ages 5-10. The day includes a country store, raffle and silent auction.
Tipton — St. Mary’s Christmas bazaar will take place at the church hall Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be crafts, a cookie walk and food stand.
WORKSHOPS
Iowa City – Choir directors and members, accompanists, cantors, and anyone involved in music ministry are invited to a workshop Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Patrick Church. For the first hour, the workshop will focus on selecting music for the liturgy. For the final two hours, accompanists will meet in one group and cantors/singers in another to work on their ministries. Faculty for the workshop will be Patti McTaggart of St. Mary Parish, Iowa City, and David Pitt of Loras College, Dubuque.Cost is $10 at the door.
