At Keokuk school, character counts

Keokuk Catholic School is celebrating character education through luncheons this school year. KEOKUK — Students at Keokuk Catholic School have celebrated two special Character Education luncheons so far this year. Students in each class are chosen by their teachers to represent their class at the table with the sponsors during the regular lunch period. Students are treated to special seating, decorated table and a special treat. Students are also recognized and presented with special certificates during the morning gathering for prayer in the school lobby.
In September Keokuk Catholic School honored the character trait of responsibility. Dawn Butler, art teacher, is a co-sponsor of the luncheons. Students attending the responsibility luncheon Sept. 27 were Butler, Blake Hemann, Wren Richardson, Veda Neally, Sidney Ruhl, Emma Evans, Olivia Kraus, Alex Capaldo and Chloe Ruhl.
In October, the school honored the character trait of trustworthiness. Laura Marsot, Keokuk Catholic School principal, was also co-sponsor. Attending the trustworthiness luncheon on Oct. 25 were  Marsot, Nina Bain, Camryn Walte, Millie Larson, Sidney Gruntmeir, Drew Phillips, Thomas Trent, Bryor Lindner and Marina Logsdon.
In November the Keokuk Catholic School will honor and celebrate caring. A school-wide food drive will take place for families in need and will be distributed during the holidays by the Ladies of Charity.
