Holy Family KCs award funds to groups

Knights of Columbus Council 14678 of Holy Family Parish in Davenport donated funds last month to organizations including the Diocese of Davenport, which offers Special Faith Saturdays.

Deacon Timmerman Knights of Columbus Council 14678 of Holy Family Parish in Davenport has presented checks totaling $4,435.28 to charitable organizations that benefit individuals with special needs. The money, distributed in late November, comes from the annual Tootsie Roll Drive for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, said Grand Knight Joe Hasson. Here’s a list of the recipients:
• Challenger Leagues of Iowa and Illinois received $2,500, which will be divided between the two organizations that provide opportunities for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities to play baseball.
• The One Foundation/New Choices Inc., received $1,185.28. The foundation’s mission is to create an environment that allows people with disabilities to enjoy the same opportunities as others to pursue and achieve their life’s goals and interests.
• The Diocese of Davenport received $500 to put toward its Special Faith Saturdays program for individuals who are 16 years old or older. The program meets monthly at St. Ann Parish in Long Grove. Following a lesson and activities, participants help serve as lectors, ushers and gift bearers during the Saturday afternoon Mass at St. Ann’s. Participants come from Iowa City, Solon and the Davenport area….
