Iowa City – Regina Catholic Education Center President and CEO Lee Iben will host a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace Uni­versity (FPU) on Wednesday evenings from 6:30–8 p.m. Jan. 16 through March 13, 2013. LITURGY/PRAYER
Coralville – St. Thomas More Parish’s Stephen Ministry will offer a Blue Christmas service Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. People dealing with a death, family crisis or other hurt are welcome to a quiet time of reflection with Scripture readings and songs of hope and comfort. Soup supper follows.
Davenport – A National Night of Prayer for Life will take place Dec. 8 from 9 p.m. to midnight at Sacred Heart Cathedral’s adoration chapel. For more information, email woniojeanne@gmail.com.
Davenport —  A healing Mass will be celebrated Dec. 21 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Confessions start at 6 p.m., praise music at 6:30 p.m., and Mass at 7:15 p.m.
Davenport – At Eagles’ Wings a healing Mass will be celebrated Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. Also, a Soaking With A Purpose prayer meeting is at 7 p.m. Dec. 14.
Rock Island, Ill. – Traditional, semi-monastic Vespers or Evening Prayer will be held during the four Sundays of Advent at 4:30 p.m. at St. Mary Church. The Con­fra­ternity of the Fathers of St. Joseph welcomes all to this 30- to 40-minute Advent Prayer of the Divine Office or Liturgy of the Hours in English, with a touch of Latin. A simple meal will be served afterward. Upcoming dates are Dec. 9, 16 and 23.
MEETINGS
Davenport – The St. Anthony grief group  began its nine weekly meetings in the St. Anthony Parish Library on Dec. 4 from 3:30 to 5 p.m.  The group will not meet the Tuesdays of Christmas or Jan. 1, so it will meet through Feb. 12.  For more information or to register, call facilitators Dennis at (563) 332-1396, Ginny at (309) 523-9251, or Nadine at (563) 391-5161. RETREATS

SOCIALS
Clinton – The Catholic Historical Center at St. Boniface, 2500 Pershing Blvd., will host an open house Dec. 9. Doors open at 1 p.m.; program begins at 1:30 p.m. Attendees will hear Christmas music, sing along, and hear the Christmas story. Freewill offerings will be accepted to benefit local families.
Davenport – The Sacred Heart Cathedral Choir Ensemble will present a free Advent concert in the cathedral on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. The concert will include solo, duet and trio performances, as well as choral pieces for Advent and Christmas. Davenport – All are welcome to the CHM Holiday Movie and Gift Swap presented by the Congregation of the Humility of Mary on Dec. 6 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Humility of Mary Center. The event is free. The movie “The Story of Change” starts at 6:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to bring new or gently used items for re-gifting. Then shop the swap for a gift for someone on your list.
Iowa City – St. Patrick Parish’s choir will present an Advent Choral Service on Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. at St. Patrick Church. The service will feature choral and organ selections as well as Scripture readings and congregational singing.  Bishop Martin Amos will preside over this one-hour service that will be free and open to the public. Iowa City – St. Wenceslaus Parish’s holiday bazaar will take place Dec. 8 from 8-11 a.m. and 5-6 p.m. and Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be baked goods, booths to browse, attic treasures, Scrip and a silent auction.
