LONG GROVE — A $1.5 million capital campaign to improve the St. Ann Parish campus kicked off Feb. 24. More than 150 people attended the “Moving into Our Third Century” event in the parish’s Great Hall.
Msgr. Drake Shafer, pastor, said the campaign will cover many projects at the parish that is home to more than 700 families.
Some of the money will be used for the HVAC System in the church building. He said the geothermal system, which has a life expectancy of 20 years, is now going on 28 years. So far five units have been replaced, but another eight still need to be done.
Another part of the campaign is to make the church more handicapped accessible. A ramp will be added along the back behind the altar to provide access to the sanctuary. The cantor and ambo platforms also will be enlarged so there is less of a risk of falls.
