DAVENPORT — St. Ambrose University Campus Ministry invited students to write personal reflections on the Stations of the Cross, using the avant-garde stations created by the late Father Ed Catitch. The honest, from-the-soul reflections have been compiled and are being displayed electronically on the SAU Campus Ministry website: http://saustations.blogspot.com/. The actual stations are displayed on the walls of Christ the King Chapel on campus.
“Just as Fr. Catich envisioned Christ incarnate as a college student in his stations, so the college student reflections add another dimension to the uniqueness of the stations,” said Father Chuck Adam, chaplain and campus ministry director for St. Ambrose University.
“All of our students did a wonderful job, putting some very good and serious thought into their reflections,” added Christopher Clow, the campus ministry department’s director of music and liturgy. “I think these stations are a fantastic way to share the beautiful etched stations of Fr. Catich with alumni and friends of St. Ambrose, no matter where they are in the world. But it is also a great way to see our students’ perspectives, to take this ancient practice and make it come alive for our students today. It gives them a chance to re-imagine these stations anew, and for all of us to learn something great from their insight.”
