Davenport — James Daniel Philpott, Ph.D., will present “To Redeem the Time: Bringing Catholicism into Teaching of Inter­national Relations and Peace Studies” at 2 p.m. March 3 at the St. Ambrose University Rogalski Center Ball­room.  He is associate professor of political science and peace studies at the University of Notre Dame.
Iowa City — Thomas Eckerman, a Newman Center Scholar, will present two seminars about music, faith and healing on March 3 and 10 at noon at the Newman Catholic Student Center. Part 1 is “The Expedition:  The trials and tribulations of one man’s 10 year journey of faith in the arts.” Part 2 is “The Collab­oration: Experi-ence the healing powers of music and faith.”
Muscatine – Father Joseph Sia will present “A Journey Through Church History” on Feb. 28 and March 7 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Mazzuchelli Center. The presentations are designed to help attendees discover the major people, places and events of the first 500 years of Church history and better understand Catholic teachings.
LITURGY/PRAYER
Clinton – All are welcome to vespers at The Canticle with the Sisters of St. Francis at 6 p.m. on Sundays through March 24. Reflections during the services will focus on places where Ss. Francis and Clare found God.
Davenport — SWAP (Soaking With A Purpose) prayer meetings will take place March 8 and 22 at 7 p.m. at Eagles’ Wings, 5816 Telegraph Road.
Davenport — A Lenten day of reconciliation will take place March 13 at 10 a.m. at Eagles’ Wings, 5816 Telegraph Road. Participants will view a video about Father Marty Jenco, who was taken hostage in Beirut in 1985 while serving as director of Catholic Relief Services. He was held for 564 days but came to forgive his captors. RETREATS
Clinton — Prince of Peace Parish will hold a Christian Experience Weekend at Prince of Peace Catholic School March 1-3 for men. The weekend includes talks, discussions, Mass and activities conducted by religious and lay persons to strengthen participants’ relationship with God.  Fee  is $35. Wheatland — Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat will hold the following events. On March 1-2, Friday 7 p.m. to Saturday 3 p.m. is “What is Pilgrimage?” with Pastor Dianne Prichard of Community Church of Toronto. Develop a greater sensitivity to God’s presence, learn basic Spiritual disciplines, and experience ways to read Scripture. On March 3 is an ecumenical Taize prayer vigil service at 5 p.m. with Sister Kathleen Storms, SSND. Free will donation. On March 6 is “Call to Conversion: What’s In It For Us” from 10 a.m. to noon with Father Bill Kneemiller. The day includes Mass and lunch. Clinton —  Peace Soup, a series offering community and discussion, will take place at St. Boniface Hall on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. through March 19. A meal of soup and bread will precede a presentation on the theme of “Faith’s Response to Violence.” On March 5, Kassie Streveler, MSW, will speak on elder abuse.
Clinton — Knights of Columbus will hold fish fries at St. Boniface Hall on Fridays through March 22 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Cost for fried or baked fish is $8 for adults, $4 for children younger than 12, and free for children three and younger. Cost for seven jumbo shrimp is $9.
Cosgrove — The annual Cosgrove blood drive at St. Peter’s Church Hall is March 14 from 3-7 p.m. St. Peter’s Altar and Rosary Society will help sponsor this cause. Contact person is Trish Rohret at (319) 545-2086 or trish@southslope.net for appointments.
Davenport — Quad Cities Interfaith will hold a Trivia Night Fundraiser on March 2 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1111 W. 35th St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; games begin at 7 p.m. Cost is $10 per person or $80 for a table of eight. Davenport — St. Alphonsus Parish will hold Lenten fish fries March 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 4-7 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults and $3 for children. Desserts cost $1.
Grinnell — Knights of Columbus will hold fish fries in St. Mary’s religious education center on Fridays through March 22 from 5-7 p.m. Menu includes fish, potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 5-14 and free for children 4 and younger.
Iowa City — A bake sale will take place at St. Wenceslaus Church March 23 from 8-11 a.m. There will be kolaches, cinnamon rolls, complimentary coffee, and Scrip.
Iowa City — St. Mary Parish’s Knights of Columbus will hold Lenten fish fries at the KC Family Center on Fridays through March 22 from 5-7 p.m.  Catfish, shrimp and salmon dinners are $10 each; extra fish or shrimp is $3. Shrimp and catfish baskets are available for $8. Lone Tree — St. Mary parishes in Lone Tree and Nichols will hold a pancake breakfast March 3 from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the American Legion. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12, and free for children 5 and younger.
Oxford — Knights of Columbus fish supper will take place March 15 at St. Mary Hall from 5-8 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger.
Washington — St. James School invites people to Jukebox Saturday Night at the Royal Sock Hop on March 16 at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
