A compassionate servant

To the Editor:

Pope Francis seems to be a compassionate servant of the Lord. In humility he asked the crowd to invoke their prayers upon him as he began his papacy before he invoked his prayers and blessings upon them. He called for a world that is of one brotherhood and a faith-filled journey fruitful for evangelization.
I am again reminded of 1 Peter 4:8-11a:
“Let your love for one another be intense, because love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaining. As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace. Whoever preaches, let it be with the words of God; whoever serves, let it be with the strength that God supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”
My prayer: Be merciful on your children Lord, especially your humble servant Pope Francis, that as he is open to the Holy Spirit that guides the hands of Your Vicar on earth we may be open to true brotherhood of Christ and continued fruitful evangelization to the whole world.
