Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Sharon F. Wagner, 69, a resident of Bettendorf will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 422 E. 10th Street, Davenport. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. The family will greet friends Thursday, March 14, 2013, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.at the Halligan – McCabe – DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. Sharon passed unexpectedly Sunday, March 10, 2013 at her residence in Bettendorf.
Sharon Frances Kurtenbach was born April 9, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of Jerome Joseph and Celine Mary (Nahra) Kurtenbach. She attended the Villa de Chantal, Immaculate Conception Academy and was one of the first graduating classes from Assumption High School.
Sharon was united in marriage to Steventon Wagner on August 4, 1973 in Bettendorf. Together they established RILCO ( Rock Island Lubricants) in 1979. Sharon and Steventon realized their dream of owning a restaurant by establishing Steventon’s in LeClaire in 1995. Sharon was an integral part of the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and provided a comfortable atmosphere with her personal attention to detail, and her welcoming smile.
If you ever had the pleasure of meeting or knowing Sharon Wagner, you never forgot her. Her smile, laugh and loving manner were unforgettable. Her generosity was overflowing to family, friends and many charitable organizations. She was the ultimate hostess. She could throw a party like no other! She would light up a room with her infectious energy and laugh! Perhaps that is why she loved being in the restaurant business. She loved people. She took great fulfillment out of serving and tending to others. She was a loyal and giving friend, mother, daughter, aunt and grandmother. There are no words to sufficiently describe how much she will be missed. If you knew Sharon….you understand.
Those left to honor her memory include, her five sons, Scott and Jodi Wagner, Columbus, Ohio; Craig Wagner and Asa, Bettendorf; Robert Wagner, Isle Morada, Florida; Kelly Wagner, Davenport; and Dan and Caroline Wagner, Columbus, Ohio; six beloved grandchildren, a sister, Sunday Combs, Davenport; and a brother, Bill Kurtenbach, Bettendorf.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steventon, in 1995; her parents, Jerry and Celine, and a sister, Marilyn O’Shea. May they rest in peace.
