Beginning this fall, the Diocese of Davenport will require Catholic parishes and schools to offer the Circle of Grace safe environment curriculum for children.
A training session for the program, which replaces the diocese’s safe environment curriculum for children and was developed by the Archdiocese of Omaha, will take place April 26 at St. Patrick Church in Iowa City. Directors of religious education, principals, youth ministers and other catechists should attend, said Mary Wieser, diocesan director of faith formation.
Circle of Grace aims to help kindergarteners to 12th-graders understand God’s love for them; maintain appropriate physical, emotional, spiritual and sexual boundaries; and learn how to take action if a boundary is violated.
