Priests temporarily removed from ministry

The Diocese of Davenport received two separate reports last week of clergy abuse of a minor dating back to the 1980s and 1990. Both reports were promptly submitted to the Scott County Attorney’s Office for investigation and the two priests named in the complaints have been temporarily removed from ministry, said Deacon David Montgomery, diocesan spokes­man.

Father Robert Harness, pastor of Holy Family Parish in Davenport, has been accused of inappropriately touching a minor around 1990.  The diocese will meet with parish leadership to assess the parish’s immediate needs and other issues of healing that may arise, Deacon Montgomery said.
Father John Stack, chaplain at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, has been accused of inappropriately touching minors around the 1980s.
