Relationship leads to marriage and journey to Catholic Church

DAVENPORT — More than 25 years after they went their separate ways, Jennifer and Jeff Hovde reunited through the Internet. The couple began a relationship that led to marriage and a journey to the Catholic Church for Jennifer.
Jeff, 49, and Jennifer, 44, grew up about 100 miles apart from each other in northern Minnesota. During the summers their paths crossed in Lake of the Woods. They dated on and off, “but at the time the age difference proved to be too big an obstacle,” she said. “I was 16 and he was 20.”
Jeff’s family was Catholic; Jennifer was raised in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and said her family was active in the church.
