DAVENPORT — Father Robert Harness has been reinstated as pastor of Holy Family Parish in Davenport.  After an extensive month-long investigation by Detective James Sweeney, Sweeney & Associates, the Diocese of Davenport Review Board advised Bishop Amos that Fr. Harness should be restored to ministry. Fr. Harness will resume his ministry immediately.
Bishop Martin Amos accepted the Review Board’s recommendation and last week issued a news release to media sources throughout the diocese in an effort to restore the good character of Fr. Harness.
A visible sign of that restoration occurred when Fr. Harness served as a concelebrant at the Mass of Ordination to the Priesthood of Father Jacob Greiner on May 25 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. Fr. Harness, a friend of the Greiner family, also was one of two priests who vested the new priest. “We were thankful he (Fr. Harness) could be here today,” said Kevin Greiner, Fr. Greiner’s dad.
