Burlington — Bishop Martin Amos will celebrate a special Year of Faith Mass with Keokuk Deanery priests on Saturday, July 20, at 5 p.m. in Burlington Memorial Auditorium. Food and games will follow after the liturgy. Regular Saturday evening Masses in the deanery are cancelled on this date.
Davenport — The Sisters of Humility invite the general public to pray with them at 11:40 a.m. Wednes­days during a special Mass for peace. It will be celebrated in the Magnificat Chapel at the Humility of Mary Center, 820 W. Central Park Ave.
Iowa City — Centering prayer groups meet from 7-8 p.m. Mondays at the Mercy Hospital chapel, and from 9-11:30 a.m. the fourth Saturday of each month at a member’s home. For more information, call Maureen Kelley at (319) 338-8284.
Melrose — The Knights of Columbus of Albia sponsor a 24-hour adoration the first Friday of the month at St. Patrick Church in Melrose. St. Paul – St. James the Less Parish will celebrate its 175th anniversary July 14. Bishop Martin Amos will preside at Mass at 2 p.m., and dinner in the school gym will follow. The band L’Angelus will provide music and entertainment.
Clinton – The Catholic Historical Center at St. Boniface is open at 2520 Pershing Blvd. The museum contains numerous articles, pictures and memorabilia from the five previous Catholic parishes of Clinton, Mount St. Clare school and Our Lady of Angels school. St. Boniface, built in 1908, also contains the religious records of members of the five former parishes. The center is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon through August. Moline, Ill. – The Secular Discalced Carmelite Community of St. Joseph and the Prophet Elijah invites people to join in the study of prayer in the tradition of St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. Davenport – The Congregation of the Humility of Mary presents “Women & Spirit: Catholic Sisters in America,” a professional museum exhibit highlighting women’s religious communities of the Upper Mississippi River Valley.  The exhibit will be open for viewing at Humility of Mary Center, 820 W. Central Park Ave., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 21.  Guests are welcome to 10 a.m. Mass on those days.
Davenport – St. Patrick Society’s trivia night is Friday, July 12, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1111 W. 35th St. Doors open at 6 p.m., and trivia starts at 7 p.m. Cost is $80 per table, eight players per team. There will be a 50/50 drawing and Irish Festival raffle tickets. Food and snacks are allowed; beverages will be available for purchase. Funds support the Grand Parade. Davenport – The 2013 Fr. Ken Martin Golf Outing & Dinner will be held Aug. 28 at Emeis Golf Course at 12:30 p.m., followed by dinner at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Proceeds go to the Assumption Foundation for K-12 Catholic Schools to provide an emergency scholarship fund for families in crisis situations. Davenport — The resale shop Cinderella Cellar, 230 W. 35th St., is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Kahl Home. Cinderella Cellar is operated by volunteers from the Catholic Service Board.
East Pleasant Plain — Father Robert “Bob” Striegel, sacramental minister of Ss. Joseph & Cabrini in Richland/ East Pleasant Plain and a chaplain at the VA hospital in Iowa City, will celebrate the 40th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood with a Mass Sunday, July 21, at 3 p.m.  at the church, 1174 Reed St.  East Pleasant Plain. Sugar Creek – Ss. Mary & Joseph Parish will hold its lawn social July 14 at the church, 3218 110th St., Preston. A beef and pork dinner will be served from 3-7:30 p.m. Cost for adults is $7.50 in advance or $8 at the door. Cost is $4 for children ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger.
