Equality for women

To the Editor:
When the door is closed you enter through the window.
The Holy Spirit inspired American woman of my generation with the idea that whoever wanted to play baseball or go to law school or medical school or edit a newspaper or be treated as a human being with equal opportunities could contribute in any way to the communion of saints.
Many heard the whisper of equality through the mouths of daughters and sisters. Too many doors have been closed in our face not to have learned to watch the windows for an obedient opening. Never to forget about the breezes of justice flying through the pain on the wings of the dove. So begins the theology of common women in freedom lands.
