Sr. Helen Sherrard, BVM

DUBUQUE – Sister Helen (Agneselle) Sherrard, BVM, 87, died Oct. 21 at Marian Hall.
She was born Dec. 17, 1925. She entered the BVM congregation from Sacred Heart Parish, Boone, on Sept. 8, 1943. She professed first vows March 19, 1946, and final vows Aug. 15, 1951.
In the Diocese of Davenport, Sr. Sherrard taught elementary school and was principal/superior at St. Mary in Clinton (1952–62 and 1972–82), and St. Patrick in Iowa City (1962–68), and taught elementary school at St. Paul the Apostle in Davenport (1968). She also taught elementary school in Cedar Falls, Dubuque and Tama, Iowa; Wichita, Kan.; and Pasadena, Calif. She was librarian, parish minister and volunteer in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Burial is in the Mount Carmel cemetery, Dubuque.
