Sr. Mary Verelyn Kelly, BVM

DUBUQUE – Sister Mary Verelyn Kelly, BVM, 91, died Oct. 17 at Marian Hall.
She was born June 18, 1922. She entered the BVM congregation from St. Anthony Parish, Casper, Wyo., Sept. 8, 1944. She professed first vows on March 19, 1947, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1952.
In the Diocese of Davenport, Sr. Kelly ministered as director of religious education at St. John Vianney Parish in Bettendorf (1974–86). She was an elementary and secondary school teacher and superior/principal in Chicago; Dubuque, Iowa; and Lead, S.D.; served on the faculty at Paul VI Catechetical Institute in St. Louis; and was secretary for the Catholic Near East Welfare Association Office of the Congregation of Oriental (Eastern Rite) Churches, Rome, Italy.
Burial is in the Mount Carmel cemetery, Dubuque.
