CONFERENCES
Iowa City – “Journey to the Heart: A Conference for Catholic Women” is Nov. 2 at St. Patrick Church from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with speakers Father James Kubicki, SJ, Colleen Pasnik of Dubuque and Anne Mallampalli of Pittsburgh. EDUCATIONAL
Bettendorf – Deacon John Weber will hold a Scripture study on the Parables of Christ on Saturdays from 9-10:30 a.m. beginning Oct. 26 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Burlington – The CAFÉ (Catholic Adult Fellowship Evening) will be open in the Notre Dame Elementary School gym at 6:45 p.m. Oct. 16  as Bruce Brockway shares his journey of faith. Child care is provided. Bishop Martin Amos will speak Oct. 23.
Davenport – The Biblical Counseling Class will meet Oct. 26 at 9:30 a.m. at Eagles’ Wings. Topics will be, “Caught in the Middle, Children of Divorce” and “What would Jesus think and do?  Understanding the way of Christ.” Cost is $40. To attend, call (563) 324-7263.
Davenport – St. Ambrose University will offer an open house for prospective students and their families on the mornings of Oct. 14 and 25 and Nov. 2 and 11. Visitors can chat with coaches, professors and staff. The event will include admissions and financial aid information. An optional tour of the Center for Health Sciences Education will be available. LITURGY/PRAYER
Davenport – A healing Mass will be celebrated Oct. 18 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Confessions start at 6 p.m, praise music at 6:30 p.m and  Mass at 7:15 p.m. All are welcome.
Davenport – A Soaking With A Purpose prayer meeting will be held at Eagles’ Wings on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. The evening includes praise and worship, Scripture meditation and soaking in God’s presence.
Iowa City — People meet to pray the rosary and receive Communion at 1 p.m. Wednesdays at Melrose Meadows Retirement Community. All Catholics are welcome.
Muscatine – A public square rosary crusade will be at St. Mathias Church (outside steps) Oct. 12 at noon. For more information, call Michelle Schaapveld at (563) 263-4498.
West Point – The 2013 public square rosary crusade will take place at the Shelter House Oct. 12 at noon.

MEETINGS

Davenport – The Grief Support Group at St. Anthony Parish started a nine-week program on Oct. 1. The group meets on Tuesdays from 3:30–5 p.m. at the school library at the far end of the church parking lot. People of any faith background who are grieving the loss of a loved one are invited. Burlington — The public is welcome to a free tour of Catholic churches in Burlington and West Burlington on Oct. 13 from 1-5 p.m. Tours begin every 15 minutes at St. Paul Church at 508 N. Fourth St. in Burlington, St. John Church at 700 Division in Burlington and Ss. Mary & Patrick Church at 420 W. Mt. Pleasant in West Burlington.
LeClaire – Our Lady of the River Parish’s annual Octoberfest will be Oct. 19 beginning with a Polka Mass at 5 p.m. in the church. Lyle Beaver will play the accordion. A German meal will follow in the parish hall. All are welcome to the meal. A free-will offering will be accepted.
Lost Nation – Melvin and Irene Duwa will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with an open house Oct. 12 from 4-7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Lovilia – St. Peter Parish welcomes people to its fall dinner and auction Oct. 13. Dinner of roast beef or ham is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 4 to 12. Muscatine – Ss. Mary & Mathias Parish will show the film “Science Tests Faith” on Oct. 17 from 6:30-9 p.m. at the church at 215 W. West Liberty – Assembly 3189 of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus will be hosting a pork loin meal Oct. 20 at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall from 4:30-6 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and younger.
