Advent retreat on peace

CLINTON – The Clinton Franciscans will host an Advent Retreat: “Giving Birth to Peace” on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Canticle, 841 13th Ave. N. The retreat is an invitation to a day away from the busy tasks of December and an opportunity to enter anew into the Christmas story and how Christians “birth” the message of peace.
The day will focus on the teachings of peace in Scripture as well as in the writings of St. Francis and St. Clare. Sister Nancy Miller, OSF, a Dubuque Franciscan who will facilitate the retreat, adds: “Francis beckoned his followers to seek peace as they traveled to other countries, especially when they encountered others who had  very different views. Francis’ request is a challenging one and it calls us to respect one another. Our time together will engage the imagination and inspire an experience of Christmas peace.”
Suggested offering, including lunch: $25. Register by calling (563) 242-7611 or emailing office@clintonfranciscans.com.
