DAVENPORT — Assumption High School track and field head coach Tim O’Neill has been named the Iowa Track Coaches Association 3A Coach of the Year for 2013.
“This is an amazing honor. I have been blessed to be in a program where expectations are high not just on our team, but within our entire athletic department,” O’Neill said.  “We have student-athletes, parents and assistant coaches who have all bought in and all of us are reaping the benefits together. I can’t imagine there being a better place to coach right now than Assumption High School. I am a proud alum.”
O’Neill, a 1996 Assumption graduate, led the girls’ track and field program to the first track and field state title in school history, after runner-up finishes in 2012, 2011 and 2008.
O’Neill also was named At-Large Coach of the Year in 2012, 2011, and 2008.
