Davenport — This year’s St. Ambrose University Geiger lecturer is an expert in the legacy of American warfare. On Nov. 14 at 7 p.m., Western Michigan Associate Professor of History Dean Ed Martini will present “Agent Orange and the Environmental Ima-ginary” in the Rogalski Center.
LITURGY/PRAYER
Clinton – The Sisters of St. Francis and students of Ashford University invite people to join them Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Canticle chapel for prayerful solidarity with participants in the School of the Americas watch in Georgia.
Davenport — A healing Mass will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 15, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Confessions start at 6 p.m, praise Music at 6:30 p.m and Mass at 7:15 p.m. All are welcome.
Davenport —  Eagles’ Wings will host Soaking With Purpose prayer meeting on Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. The meeting includes spontaneous praise, worship and Scripture meditation.
RETREATS
Wheatland – Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat welcomes people to the following event. From Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. to Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. is “The Jesus I Want to Know” with Sister Sandra Weinke, SSND. Christology ex­plains who Jesus is in a way that can be understood in today’s diverse and pluralistic world. Bring Bibles or the New Testament. Fee: $150. Clinton — Prince of Peace Peru Task Force is planning its annual Peru Dinner on Sunday, Nov. 17, with hospitality at 4 p.m. and dinner at 4:30 p.m. at Tuscany Special Events Center at Rastrelli’s Restau­rant. Davenport – The Assumption ladies Christmas luncheon will take place at The Outing Club Dec. 6 beginning with an 11:30 a.m. social. Lunch is at noon, followed by a jazz choir performance at 12:45 p.m. and speaker at 1 p.m. The day will benefit the April Knight. Cost is $35. RSVP by Nov. 19. Davenport – St. Alphonsus Parish’s annual craft show is Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2626 Boies Ave. There will be a raffle for a queen-size cathedral windows quilt. Handmade lap quilts, stained glass, greeting cards, jewelry, floral arrangements, candles, baked goods and more will be sold. There will be cinnamon rolls and coffee for breakfast. Fort Madison – Holy Family Parish’s Christ­mas Bazaar is Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at McAleer Hall. There will be a bake sale, crafts, gifts and vendor tables. Lunch will be served from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Children’s games and crafts room will be open during lunch. Santa Claus will be at the bazaar from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The Lemmings will play folk music from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Raffle items include a Mini iPad and cash. Tickets can be bought at the parish office. The Feather Party (bingo) will be from 1:30–3 p.m.
Iowa City – Johnson County Right to Life will hold a bake sale Nov. 23 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and Nov. 24 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Church. Proceeds benefit youths attending the Midwest March for Life in January 2014. Donations of baked goods will be accepted at the church Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Iowa City – The 13th annual Regina Legend of the Fall: Bob Brown Memorial Trail Run and Walk through Hickory Hill Park will be held Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, at 8 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Regina cross country program and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, in honor of Coach Bob Brown, who died in 2007 from pancreatic cancer.
