Priest retirements, departures, assignment changes

Effective Wednesday, January 1, 2014
Rev. Joseph T. Nguyen, at his request has permission to seek ministry outside the Diocese of Davenport, and is relieved from assignment as parochial vicar of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport, and St. Paul the Apostle, Davenport.

Rev. Joseph M. Sia, while remaining as administrator of St. Joseph Parish, West Liberty, and St. Joseph Parish, Columbus Jct., to six-month leave of absence to return to the Philippines to help with family needs and illnesses.

Effective Monday, June 30, 2014
Very Rev. Stephen P. Ebel, VF, to retirement from assignment as Dean of the Grinnell Deanery and pastor of St. Anthony, Knoxville and Sacred Heart, Melcher.
Rev. David F. Hitch, to retirement from assignment as pastor of St. Mary, Mechanicsville and St. Mary, Tipton.
Rev. Robert T. McAleer, to retirement from assignment as pastor of St. John Vianney, Bettendorf.
Rev. John E. Stecher, to retirement from assignment as Chaplain of the Kahl Home, Davenport.

Effective Tuesday, July 1, 2014
Very Rev. James J. Vrba, VF, relieved of appointment as Dean of the Iowa City Deanery and from present assignment as pastor of St. Mary Parish, Solon, and assigned as pastor of St. John Vianney Parish, Bettendorf.
