Gun control hurts law-abiding people

To the Editor:
Editorial columnist Frank Wessling’s message on more gun control is totally off base. Punishing the law-abiding person does not curb violence. Even in a civilized society, we are justified in defending ourselves and our families. I believe you are attacking gun owners. That does nothing to end violence.
Personally, I am proud to say that I am a Christian; I am a member of the National Rifle Association; and I am a member of Iowa Gun Owners.
Mr. Wessling, I believe that the message you put out is very dangerous. The way I interpret your editorial, you are willing to take rights away from the law-abiding and go soft on criminals. Jesus would weep.
