Memorial services and Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Campione, 88, of Bettendorf, formerly of Detroit, MI, will be 11am Saturday, April 5, 2014 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf.  The rite of cremation has been accorded.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mrs. Campione passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at her home following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mary Cucchiara was born June 20, 1925 in Detroit, MI, a daughter of Paul and Catherine (Parisi) Cucchiara and was a first generation Italian-American.   She was united in marriage to Joseph Campione on August 11, 1951 in Detroit.  He preceded her in death in 1977.

Prior to her retirement in 1990, she had worked as a forklift operator for Michigan Rivet.  She moved to Bettendorf in 1997.

She was fun-loving, feisty, and strong-willed.  She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and enjoyed crocheting as a part of the prayer shawl ministry, as well as crossword puzzles, Scrabble and playing cards.

Survivors include her daughter Paula Campione, Bettendorf; granddaughter Jessica Campione, Bettendorf; brother Moe (Beverly) Cucchiara, Twentynine Palms, CA; sister Grace (Smoky) Core, Carlsbad, CA; nieces and nephews Alex “Jr” (Karen) Alongi, Jerry (Jean) Alongi, Pete (Judy) Alongi, Pamela Cucchiara, Paul Cucchiara, Stephen McKinney, Mark (Beth) Cucchiara, Paul (Debi) Cucchiara, Sarah Badalemante, Kathy (Ram) Chillar, Joe (Marisa) Core, and Sharon (George) Friedrichs.

In addition to her husband Joseph, she was preceded in death by sisters Catherine “Tina” Badalemante, Faye Alongi, brother Paul, and nieces Donna McKinney and Donna Badalemante.
