Sister Mary Francille Luking dies

Sister Mary Francile Luking, BVM, 92, a former educator in the Diocese of Davenport, died May 7 in Dubuque.

Born in Casper, Wyo., on June 9, 1921, Sr. Luking entered the BVM congregation from St. Bridget Parish, Louisville, Ky., on Sept. 8, 1939. She professed first vows on March 19, 1942, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1947.

Sr. Luking taught at Regina High School in Iowa City. She also taught or served as principal in schools in Memphis, Tenn.; Rock Island, Ill.; Mundelein, Ill.; Kansas City, Mo.; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Jackson, Miss. She served many years as Montessori school volunteer in Jonestown, Miss.
