Davenport – St. Ambrose University invites students entering seventh or eighth grade to Health Careers Ad­ven­ture Camp July 21-25 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Local health care facilities and fitness agencies will help students explore various health professions. Cost is $200 until July 1 and $225 after July 1. Schol­arships are available. Davenport — Eagles’ Wings is hosting SWAP (Soaking With a Purpose) prayer meetings Friday, May 9 and Friday, May 23 at 7 p.m. They are also hosting a Healing Mass Tuesday, May 13 at 1 p.m.

Wheatland – Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat welcomes people to the following events. On May 4 at 5 p.m. is a Taize vigil service. Taize is an ecumenical movement draw­ing Christians of all denominations together in unified and compassionate prayer. Supper follows. Free will offering. Bettendorf — A trivia night to benefit the upcoming medical ministry international mission trip to Arequipa, Peru, will be held May 3 in the Lourdes Catholic School gym. Davenport — Hu­mil­ity of Mary Housing, Inc. is starting its 25th year of hosting one of the largest indoor “garage sales” in the area to benefit single parents and their children in a program that takes them from homelessness to hopefulness. The spring semi-annual benefit sale will be May 16 and 17, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3805 Mississippi Ave., the office and donation center for Humility of Mary Hou­sing. Dona­tions can be dropped off at the same address, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., through May 9.

Davenport — St. Ambrose University is hosting a trivia night May 2 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Rogalski Center. The event will benefit SAU’s assistive technology projects for persons with disabilities in Brazil. Doors open at 6 p.m. Cost is $10 per person or $80 per table. Dixon — St. Ambrose University opens its observatory to the public for a night of stargazing on May 3 beginning at sunset. Visitors may use the observatory’s telescopes or bring their own. The St. Ambrose Menke Observatory is located at the Wapsi River Environmental Education Center, near Dixon. Event is free and open to the public. LeClaire — Our Lady of the River Parish will hold its third annual trivia night May 3 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the church, 28200 226 Street Place. The event will benefit the parish hall remodeling project. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the Cinco de Mayo-themed event. Details: 10 questions for 10 rounds; taco boats, chips and cheese, snacks and drinks for sale; each team may bring its own food, beer, wine and soda; eight to 10 people per team (ages 12 and up); $10 per person; door prizes; 50/50, and mulligans for sale. Mount Pleasant – Irish tenor Mark Forrest will perform, “Come Walk with Me” with pianist John Paul Kaplan, May 9 at 7 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 607 S. Jackson St. He also will offer an evening of meditation “A Moment in Time” on May 12 at 7 p.m. Admission is a free will offering. Forrest has traveled the globe and started Faith and Family Foundation that supports people and families with special needs. Tickets for the May 9 event are $15 for adults and $5 for students. Rock Island, Ill – A fundraising event for the Humility of Mary Shelter, Inc. of Daven­port will occur Sunday, May 4 at the Estab­lishment Theatre. It will feature performances by Comedy Sportz and a stand-up comedian. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. and entertainment begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at (309) 786-1111.
